FHA partner church ministries are committed, trauma-informed ministries that understand the long-term support needed by families, children and the foster care system. Our partners work together to share resources, to learn the best strategies to support families and children, and to have a unified voice when working with Child Protective Services and other community organizations.

Partnering Child Placing Agencies
A Child Placing Agency (CPA) is a licensed organization that oversees the placement of children into foster care and adoptive homes. CPAs are responsible for recruiting, training, and licensing foster and adoptive families, ensuring that children are placed in safe, nurturing environments. They also provide ongoing support, resources, and supervision to families to ensure the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of the children in their care. CPAs work closely with Child Protective Services (CPS) and other state agencies to manage the legal and regulatory aspects of fostering and adoption.
When it comes to respite care—temporary relief for foster families—each individual CPA must approve caregivers to provide this service. This is because children placed in foster care are under the legal custody of the CPA that handled their placement, and each agency has its own set of protocols, training requirements, and standards of care. As a result, individuals must be certified with each specific CPA to ensure they meet the agency’s criteria and are properly trained to care for the children placed through that agency.
Fostering Hope collaborates with various CPAs to streamline the respite care process by offering a Foster Care Babysitting Certification. Once individuals complete this certification, they are qualified to provide respite care for foster families connected to the following agencies: Angelheart, Arrow, Caring Hearts, Circles of Care, CK Family Services, DePelchin, Divinity, Helping Hand Home, Pathways, PCHAS, Safe Families, SAFE, Settlement Home, UpBring, 4 Points Kids, and Nightlight. This collaboration ensures that foster families receive consistent, high-quality support, while certified caregivers can easily navigate the requirements of multiple agencies.
