Hope for the Holidays – A Parent Support Event

November 12, 2024 @ 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

$5

The holiday season can bring a whirlwind of emotions, both for children and their caregivers. If you’re a foster, adoptive, or kinship parent, you may notice that certain activities, foods, or family traditions can trigger big emotions in your kids – and in you too. But what if we could use the holidays as an opportunity to heal, to retell the past, or even create a new story filled with hope?

Join us for “Hope for the Holidays,” an event designed to help you navigate the challenges of the holiday season with your children. We’ll explore how traditions and holiday rituals can become powerful tools in rewriting the stories of trauma, and how practicing hope can reshape the future. Together, we’ll consider:

  • What big emotions arise during the holidays for your children and yourself?
  • What traditions or activities trigger these emotions?
  • How can we use the holidays to create new, hopeful stories for our children?

We’ll discuss strategies to manage holiday schedules, expectations from family and friends, emotional dysregulation, and more. You’ll leave with practical tools to make this season meaningful, including tips on creating a sense of stability, security, and belonging through family traditions.

Let’s transform this holiday season into an opportunity for connection, healing, and the anticipation of good things to come. Come with your own hopes, and leave with the tools to bring hope to your children.
