SUMMARY:A Future and A Hope Conference 2025
DESCRIPTION:Known: Your Story Matters\nLife can be challenging\, especially for foster\, adoptive\, and kinship families\, and young people who’ve aged out of foster care. Each person carries a story filled with immense obstacles and incredible strength. But the power of your story becomes more vibrant through connection and understanding\, not by facing hardships alone. \nBeing known means having your story truly seen\, heard\, and valued. It means feeling understood; having your unique narrative celebrated in full color. It’s about being truly seen\, heard\, and valued for who you are\, not just your circumstances. Your story matters – not just the challenges you’ve faced\, but the journey you are on and the person you are becoming. \nFor foster and adoptive parents\, being known means their story is appreciated for all its complexity; their sacrifices\, their love\, and their efforts are recognized and appreciated. This requires moving beyond the labels and into the full richness of their family’s journey. \nFor kinship caregivers\, being known means someone acknowledges their story of stepping up for family amid complicated dynamics. Their story deserves resources and support to make their caregiving journey smoother. \nFor young people who have aged out of foster care\, being known means their story is seen beyond their circumstances. It means patiently pursuing them\, even through defense mechanisms. It requires listening to their perspective and experiences and validating their needs. It requires walking alongside them as they create their own path. It’s about being recognized as individuals with hopes\, dreams\, and potential\, rather than merely part of a group defined by circumstances. \nIn a world where it’s easy to feel overlooked\, being known transforms your narrative from grayscale to vibrant color. It offers the comfort of belonging\, where your story is honored and celebrated. The journey from monochrome to color reflects the beauty of each unique story\, illuminating the richness of every individual experience. \nKnown is more than just a word. It’s a promise of hope\, support\, and the celebration of every story. It’s the assurance that you are not just part of a system—you are a story that matters. \nJoin us for the A Future & A Hope Conference 2025 as we come together to celebrate\, empower\, and support foster\, adoptive\, and kinship families\, as well as aged-out youth. Together\, we will create a space where every story is recognized\, connections are made\, and opportunities are created. With each session\, we’ll embrace the vibrant narratives that truly represent who we are.

SUMMARY:Access to the Experts: TBRI® For Teens
DESCRIPTION:This training will be offered via Zoom. \nDate & Time: Thursday\, March 24th from 9:00 am-1:00 pm \nDescription: The teenage years can be a difficult transition for adolescents & the adults that love them. With all the stress the world puts on our teens … we want to make sure their safe space is with us while still helping them develop into healthy attached adults … no matter how long we have them! \nSo what does it look like to be a safe adult in the life of an adolescent who has loss\, trauma\, or the foster care system? \nWhat is TBRI®? \nTBRI® is an attachment-based\, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of children. TBRI® uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs\, Connecting Principles for attachment needs\, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention is based on years of attachment\, sensory processing\, and neuroscience research\, the heartbeat of TBRI® is connection.

SUMMARY:Avoiding Power Struggles: The Power is Mine to Share
DESCRIPTION:When we don’t see the meaning behind behaviors\, we are at risk of entering into a power struggle with our children. Children who have experienced trauma have overwhelming behaviors. As parents\, we must see the meaning behind the behavior and meet the need for our child to prevent power struggles and optimize healing. \nIn this session\, we will discuss the reasons behind these difficult behaviors and how to respond to them using the IDEAL response from TBRI®. Our parent coaching sessions are workshops for foster and adoptive parents with a small number of participants. Bring your specific questions as our parent trainer will be able to give more one-on-one answers due to the small number of participants in the group. \nThis is online training. You will receive the link to join after registering for the event. \n Foster parents will receive a certificate of completion for CEUs.

SUMMARY:The Science of Hope
DESCRIPTION:There is hope for children who have experienced adversity! \nIn this introductory session\, we will review the neuroscience and attachment research\, and develop an understanding of how the heart\, mind\, body\, and soul heal from complex trauma. This training can grow our compassion and lead to healing\, transformation\, and hope in the life of the children you serve! When you understand that a child’s behavior is rooted in their early childhood experience\, it can help you see the need behind their behavior and support their healing. \nThis training is for those who serve children in any way\, including ministry leaders\, parents\, teachers\, and community members. You can be a part of bringing hope to the life of children and families.

SUMMARY:TBRI® for Teens: Correction
DESCRIPTION:In this Parent Support Session\, we will look deeper into how to incorporate the correction strategies from TBRI®for teens. Correction is about looking at the need behind the behavior and meeting that need. We might believe our teen has the same skills as their peers\, but because trauma impacts development\, we will have to teach those skills to them. Many times\, correction begins with setting our bar where they can be successful. Join other parents who are also navigating the teen years during this small group training and discussion. \n Foster parents will receive a certificate of completion for CEUs.
