SUMMARY:Compassion Building: Part 1
DESCRIPTION:Helping All Children Feel Safe. This 2-hour (online) training is designed with Children’s Ministry leaders and volunteers in mind but is helpful for anyone working with children from hard places. This training will help equip those involved in children’s ministry (from pastors to volunteers) in understanding how difficult life situations\, like family dysfunction and divorce\, can impact one’s present behaviors and needs. This will help you begin to explore how to start creating safe spaces in your church in a practical way. \n

SUMMARY:Can She Handle The Truth? Talking to My Child About Her Story
DESCRIPTION:Many times kids from a hard place have hard questions about their story. It is crucial that we are able to help them process their story. \nAs parents of children with trauma\, we might find it hard to talk to our children about their difficult story. We might find ourselves wondering if we will retraumatize them or hurt them by talking about it. The truth is\, many times\, they are already thinking about their story and we must create a safe space to allow them to process it. In this session\, we will learn tips for telling our children the truth about their history.  The trainer and facilitator has been there and understands how difficult it could be to parent a child who has experienced trauma. \nFoster parents will receive a certificate of attendance for continuing education credits. \nYou will receive the link to join after registering by clicking the link below.

SUMMARY:Connecting with My Child: Trauma's Impact on Attachment
DESCRIPTION:Trauma experienced in early childhood can impact a child’s relational patterns. \nConnection is the primary source of healing for children from a hard place. Many times a child’s history has taught them to protect themselves from connection. In this session\, we will review how attachment style is formed in early childhood and practical strategies to foster connection and attachment with a child\, no matter their history. \nOur parent coaching sessions are online trainings with a small number of participants. This is a great time to bring your specific questions as our parent trainer will be able to give more one-on-one answers due to the small number of participants in the group. \nFoster parents will receive a certificate of attendance for continuing education credits.  \nThis is an online training. You will receive the link to join after registering for the event on the link below.

SUMMARY:Access to the Experts: TBRI® through the Teen Years
DESCRIPTION:Fostering Hope presents an Access to the Experts event: “TBRI® Through the Teen Years” featuring guest speaker\, Jacob Huereca. \nThe teenage years can be a difficult transition for parents and adolescents. With all the stress the world puts on our teens … we want to make sure their safe space is with us while still helping them develop into healthy attached adults. \nAre you a kinship caregiver\, foster or adoptive parent\, youth pastor\, mentor or teacher of an adolescent in care? So what does it look like to be a safe adult in the life of an adolescent who has experienced loss\, trauma\, or the foster care system? \nJoin us as Jacob Huereca walks us through how to parent using TBRI through the Teen Years! \nWhat is TBRI®? \nTBRI® is an attachment-based\, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of children. TBRI® uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs\, Connecting Principles for attachment needs\, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention is based on years of attachment\, sensory processing\, and neuroscience research\, the heartbeat of TBRI® is connection. \nAbout our Speaker: \nJacob Huereca is currently the Chief Executive Officer for Connections Individual and Family Services in New Braunfels\, Texas. SUMMARY:It's Not His Fault: Understanding My Child's Relationship Patterns
DESCRIPTION:Trauma experienced in early childhood\, impacts a child’s relationships\, even later in life. \nAs parents of children with trauma\, we might not always understand why it might be difficult for our child to form healthy relationships . We might find ourselves wondering if they will be able to attach to us\, be good friends or get along with thier siblings. In this session we will take a closer look at how our child’s history influences thier attachment patters and in turn their relationship with us and others. We will also find the hope in applying connection strategies to help our child heal and grow. \nOur parent support sessions are online trainings with a small number of participants and a facilitator that has been there and understands how difficult it could be to parent a child who has experienced trauma. This is a great time to bring your specific questions as our parent trainer will be able to give more one on one answers due to the small number of participants in the group. \nFoster parents will receive a certificate of attendance for continuing education credits.  \nThis is an online training. Please register for the training on the link below.
