DESCRIPTION:We know how difficult it can be to find trauma-informed childcare. At Fostering Hope\, we want to help. On March 31\, we will match families with trauma-informed\, agency-certified sitters. Parents get some time to rest and reconnect knowing their children are being cared for by someone who “gets it”. We need both families in need of caregivers and trained caregivers to make this event a success. Join Fostering Hope founder and adoptive mom\, Julie Kouri\, as we discuss common challenges that occur surrounding the holiday season with kids who have experienced loss\, trauma\, or separation. She will share practical strategies and tips to add some HOPE to make your holiday season a little brighter and less chaotic. \nTopics will range from sweets to triggers. Strategies for those moments where we’ve already “gone off the rails\,” will help us co-regulate back to a place of peace. \nIf this sounds like your previous holiday experience or you are anticipating your first holiday together\, join us for this month’s Those Who Know: Hope for the Holidays Parent Support session.  \nThe Fostering Hope Family Center doors will be open on December 8\, 2022 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Come fellowship with our team\, and get your holiday gifts wrapped! We will be keeping our coffee pot on and the sweet treats stocked for this holiday event. Holiday wrapping paper will be provided. All adoptive\, foster\, kinship\, and reunified families are welcome!

Our November event will be offered in person on a Saturday!  \nParticipating Agencies:  Arrow\, Angelheart\, CPS\, Circles of Care\, Depelchin\, Divinity Family Services\, Giocosa\, Helping Hand Home\, Pathways\, PCHAS\, SAFE\, Settlement Home\, STARRY and Upbring \n*Content Warning// The topics covered throughout the training can be difficult to learn about as we walk with children who have experienced trauma. We encourage participants to be conscious of their own needs\, and experiences and encourage taking breaks or seeking support when necessary. If you have any concerns or questions before registration\, please contact us at info@iamfosteringhope.org \nThis training is for those who are 21+ looking to offer short-term childcare (up to 72 hours) for licensed foster families in the Greater Austin area. Please purchase one ticket for EACH participant attending the training.  \nThere will be a one-day 2-part training you will be required to participate. \nPortion 1: Trauma-Informed Care for Babysitting\, Administering Medications\, and Safe Transportation.  \nPortion 2: CPR/First Aid Certification Training. Both pieces of training MUST be attended to receive your certification and the certificates to be sent to your chosen agencies.

In order to best serve those who have experienced adversity\, Churches must implement safe practices into their programs by being aware that many people have experienced hard situations that now impacts their reactions and behaviors in day to day life. This training will help ministry leaders learn about the impact trauma has had on their congregation and apply tools to better help them respond to their behaviors to lead their congregations to go beyond friendly and create spaces where healing is possible.

Specifically\, the lack of it. It not only affects the behaviors of our children but ours too.  \nCome join other foster and adoptive parents for a time of virtual learning\, support\, and discussion led by one of our Fostering Hope staff.  \nDuring this parent session\, we hope to increase your compassion around your child’s disrupted sleep habits and offer practical steps and skills to help you teach healthy sleep habits\, tonight. \nFoster parents will receive a certificate of attendance for continuing education credits.
